All good things must come to an end. We are home! Arrived home at 6:21 pm and now we have to unload and unpack. Ugh.

Iowa is our 10th state on the trip. We got there at 11:25, and we're passing through the corner on the way home.

We stayed our last night at a Holiday Inn Express in Lincoln. Had a nice visit with the Medwicks ... Even though Jessie traumatized their son Nate by playing with his Thomas the Tank Engine. But they hade up and exchanged high fives by the time we left, thank goodness.

We have already seen a giant orange and a giant artichoke. Now we have dessert! This giant ice cream cone was sitting in a yard in Chappell, Nebraska. I especially like that it's half vanilla/half chocolate. Good art should speak to everyone.

Stopped for gas in Chappell, NE, and upon piling out of the car, learned the following lessons:

 1. Never let a 2-year-old fall asleep with an open water bottle in her lap.
2. Keep the clean beach towels and fresh toddler outfits in a trunk location that is easily accessible, not buried beneath mounds of stuff.
3. People in Chappell, NE, look at you funny when you unpack your trunk in the parking lot of the Pump & Pantry.

Entered Nebraska at 2:09. The sign says "Home of Arbor Day." That makes it the only state that is the home of a time--not a person, place or thing.
